Peter & Agnes are Building their Lives on God's Word
When we arrived to visit Peter and Agnes, we were first welcomed by their discipleship trainer, Katherine—a woman they clearly admired and respected. Katherine had been their teacher since they joined discipleship in 2022, and her influence was evident in the way they spoke.
Peter smiled warmly and introduced Agnes, saying, “This is my beloved wife! She is the best part of me, and I have learned to love her as she should be loved.” That simple statement carried the weight of transformation. Through discipleship and marriage training, Peter and Agnes had not only deepened their faith but also strengthened their marriage. They were now intentionally building their relationship on the firm foundation of Christ.
Discipleship also taught them how to share God’s Word and gave them confidence in ministry. Peter recalled the first time he preached—fifteen minutes of speaking truth, followed by prayer for the people. It was an incredible feeling, knowing that they could help others learn how to follow Christ.
As they progressed into their second year of discipleship, they were encouraged to join our farming project and learn the value of hard work. They attended many trainings and received 20 kilos of seeds. After months of faithfully applying what they had learned, they harvested enough to pay school fees for all their children and cover their basic needs. They even had enough left over to buy maize seeds, which later created additional family income.
By 2023, their commitment and diligence earned them a promotion to seed farming (instead of grain). After working hard in their garden, their yield was excellent. From the income, they bought a heifer—which now provides milk, helps pay school fees, allows them to purchase more maize seed, and has enabled them to make great strides in building their home. Today, their brick house stands with its roof and walls complete—a visible sign of their progress.
Peter reflected on their journey with gratitude, telling us: “God has done great things by bringing discipleship into this place. By giving us Bibles and training, we are different people today. We are growing in our knowledge of what it means to follow Jesus. It is teaching us how to take care of our families, to love, and to forgive. We used to feel hopeless but now our lives have changed. I thank God for loving us so much!”
