A Harvest Beyond the Fields for David & Agnes
David and Agnes never imagined how much their lives would change. Five years ago, farming was a constant struggle. Like many families in northern Uganda, they worked hard but harvested little. They simply did not know the farming methods that could make their land productive. Life was difficult, and providing for their eight children seemed like an uphill battle.
Then they joined Equipping With Truth's farming program. David listened carefully to every lesson. "I did everything they taught us," he said with a smile. "Before, we had been digging, but we were never successful."
The results were remarkable. In their first two years, the family earned enough to buy two oxen, and then a cow, while still paying school fees for their children. As their confidence grew, they expanded by renting additional land and improving their harvests. In 2024, they took an enormous step of faith and purchased their first piece of land.
Soon afterward, an opportunity came to buy an even larger property. It seemed almost impossible. David sold one of his oxen and his plow to make the first payment, trusting God to provide the rest. It was a risky decision—but one that changed their future. Today, they own both pieces of land and cultivate nearly six acres.
Yet when you ask David what has changed the most, he doesn't begin by talking about farming. Instead, he points to God. "I acknowledge that everything we have achieved is not because of my own wisdom or strength," he said. "It is God. He has watched over us and opened every door."
While David was learning improved farming practices, something even greater was happening inside his heart. Through the men's ministry, he found himself wrestling with difficult questions about what it truly means to follow Christ and lead his family well. "The lessons make us stop and think," he explained. "They challenge us. They make all of us men scratch our heads. I want to become a great man of God for my family. God is changing who I am."
Agnes has experienced that same transformation. She has faithfully participated in her discipleship group from the beginning. "So much has changed,” she said quietly. "God has really changed my life and my family."
Together, David and Agnes have discovered that the greatest harvest isn’t found in their fields. It’s found in what God has grown in their hearts!
