Clean Water and New Life for the People of Lela!
In the heart of Lela Village, life had always been a daily struggle. For generations, the people carried a heavy burden . . . the lack of access to clean water. Every morning, women and girls would set off before sunrise, trudging up and down narrow paths to reach the distant water source. It was not just far . . . it was dirty and crowded with animals. Pigs splashed in it, cows drank from it, and yet this was the water they had to take home for their families.
The women lived in a chronic state of exhaustion. By the time they returned from their all-day trips, their arms and backs ached, and their hearts felt despair. Children cried from stomach pains, families fell ill with typhoid and worms, and no one could keep their homes or bodies clean. The elderly woke up with anxiety . . . wondering if anyone would be strong enough to fetch water for them that day. Everyone in this village lived with hearts of worry.
Then came the day everything changed! A water well was drilled right in their midst!
Emily, a 38-year-old mother shared, "Since I was married and moved to this community, getting clean water was a daily struggle. During the dry spell, water would vanish, and we would take hoes, but there was nothing. The only thing we could do was walk so far that we would have to sleep at the water source before coming back the next day. But by the grace of God, our prayers have been answered! We now have safe, sweet water, and our families are so full of joy and peace!"
Walter Okello, one of the community leaders, added, "Poor hygiene plagued every household as water was so scarce that bathing was only once or twice a week. This brought us much shame, and our bodies always felt so bad. We were once surveyed four times by the local government, but no water was found. Then God stepped in! He brought us the best water we have ever tasted. Now our bodies and homes are clean and healthy, and there is so much peace and love throughout our entire community. This water is not just clean, it is a divine miracle in our lives!"
How we praise God! Over 500 people in Lela Village are now drinking sweet physical water, and an ever-growing number are tasting the living water that will make them never thirst again!
Thank you, EWT Partners, for providing the incredible gift of clean water and for so many other blessings that shout the love of Jesus!
