Tears Turned into Joy in Apari Village Through the Gift of Clean Water

For generations, the people of Apari Village cried out in desperation for clean water. Every day was marked by a struggle. Their lack of water defined their lives—it was the first thought that filled their minds in the morning and the last worry that weighed on them at night.

Women bore the heaviest burden, walking seven to nine hours a day to fetch water from unsafe sources shared with animals. These long treks left little time for family, farming, or rest. And still the water they brought home was contaminated. Every sip carried the risk of sickness. Children cried in pain from stomachaches, families were weakened by disease, and the entire village of more than 500 lived under the heavy shadow of shame—unable to keep themselves or their homes clean.

But in 2024, hope began to stir. As people joined our Discipleship Program and read God’s Word, they began to grasp the depth of God’s love and power. As their prayers rose and in God’s timing—He moved on hearts in the US to meet this great need!

Today, Apari Village overflows with joy as fresh, safe water pours from their new well. Christopher Kali, a seventy-year-old resident, shared with a beaming smile: “Since I was born, we never had clean water. We struggled to get water every day. But now, God has answered our prayers. Now we have overflowing clean water, our hygiene has changed and there is peace and so much unity in this place. To God be the glory—everyone now knows how much He loves us!”

Milly Okori, a mother and farmer, was full of emotion when she added, “Before, I walked all day for just one container of water. My body ached all over, and I wondered how long I could endure. But now we have a nearby well that gives us the sweetest water I have ever tasted. God has truly wiped our tears and sorrows away. I give Him all the glory! Nothing is too hard for Him!”

This water well has brought life and radical transformation to the people of Apari and they shout glory to God and thanks for the people who gave them this great gift! Their water problems are now a memory and they have been freed to do greater things with their lives!
