Ronald Ojok
Grade: Primary 6
Sex: Male
Location: Barr, Northern Uganda
Sponsorship Need: Boarding
Ronald lives in Northern Uganda with his father, grandmother, and sister in a single grass-thatched hut. His father was abducted by Kony rebels when he was a teenager and survived for three years in the Bush before escaping and then marrying Ronald’s mother. They had two children together, of which Ronald is the elder, but the mother abandoned the family shortly after his sister’s birth. The father suffers from HIV/AIDS, which can lead to lengthy periods of sickness, and, because of trauma surrounding his abduction, his behavior can be erratic and unpredictable. This leaves Ronald’s grandmother as his and his sister’s primary caregiver.
Ronald’s father and grandmother wanted so much to give him a better life, but they were helpless to accomplish this themselves. Fortunately, Ronald has been in EWT’s child sponsorship program since 2017 when he was five years old. He is passionate and driven in his learning, and he remains so thankful for the opportunity to be in school.
Because the distance to Ronald’s school was so great, he has shifted to a boarding school. To help this transition and its changes, he needs a boarding sponsor to come alongside his education sponsor. Not only will sponsoring Ronald enable him to continue his studies, it will give renewed hope, love, and joy to his entire family.
Ronald needs a boarding sponsor for $35/month.
