Miriam Apio
Gender: Female
Grade: Secondary 2
Location: Abongomola
Sponsorship Need: Boarding
Miriam comes from a large family in Northern Uganda where she is the seventh of nine children. Her parents have no external source of income, and they rely on subsistence farming to keep their children fed. With so many people, this is a difficult enough task even in good times, but, due to climatic changes and the unreliable nature of harvesting, there are some seasons where food is scarce. Despite their best efforts, if you were to visit this family’s home, you would be overwhelmed by the feeling of lack surrounding them. With no money to pay for them to eat, school fees are out of the question.
Miriam was selected for EWT’s Child Sponsorship program when she was six and has been able to attend school consistently since. She has thrived in school and is now in S.2 where she continues to study diligently. Her sponsorship has also been a help and blessing to her whole family.
Miriam now needs a boarding sponsor to come alongside her education sponsor. Her parents were overjoyed when Miriam was chosen, as having one of their children be able to go to school has been a source of great praise and joy. By supporting Miriam, you will give tremendous hope to struggling parents, as well as renewed cause for celebration.
Miriam needs a boarding sponsor for $35/month.
