Maureen Akite
Grade: Secondary 1
Sex: Female
Location: Abongomola, Northern Uganda
Sponsorship Need: Boarding
Maureen’s father passed away from diabetic complications in 2024 after struggling with the disease for many years. Throughout his illness, he was unable to work, and most of her mother’s small income went toward his costly medical bills. As the youngest of six, Maureen watched each of her older siblings drop out of school due to lack of tuition. None of them was even able to complete primary school, which gave her little hope that her own future would be different.
However, Maureen was selected for Child Sponsorship in 2019 and has been able to attend school since then. She is quiet by nature and very perceptive of others. Her social worker describes her as “kind, caring, well-mannered, and gentle,” as well as “loyal, humble, and loving.” She shows a strong love for Jesus as well as for other people.
Maureen recently completed her primary education and has begun secondary school. We rejoice that she is the first in her family to reach this milestone! She is now in need of a boarding sponsor to help cover the additional costs that come with this higher level of schooling. Sponsoring Maureen will allow her to continue the good work that has already begun and will remind her entire family that God is with them.
Maureen needs a boarding sponsor for $35/month.
