Jolly Agweng
Grade: Secondary 1
Sex: Female
Location: Northern Uganda
Sponsorship Need: Education/Boarding
Jolly is the second of six siblings in a family from Northern Uganda. Her father has sickle cell anemia, and he is frequently in and out of the hospital. The little income the family earns from farming—their only source of support—is largely consumed by his ongoing medical obligations. Because of his fragile health and frequent hospitalizations, Jolly and her younger siblings have had to move to Abongomola to live with their grandmother.
The eldest sister, Peace, is already in secondary school, and Jolly and her younger siblings have been studying at NISSI Christian school. Despite the family’s immense effort to keep up with school fees and to meet the school requirements, on top of the father’s medical expenses, the financial burden has simply become more than the family can sustain. When Jolly was asked to close our meeting with a word of prayer, she said, “Father, I pray that I will be given the opportunity to go to school and study, for you are my only hope.”
Jolly recently completed her primary education where she served on the NISSI gospel team and ranked among the very top scorers in her class. She was recommended to us for sponsorship by her school’s superintendent, who described her as “a well-disciplined and God-fearing girl of great character.” By sponsoring Jolly, you can help ensure she grows into the bright future God has set before her, becoming an answer to the very prayer she so faithfully prayed.
Jolly needs an education or boarding sponsor for $35/month, or both for $70/month.
