Emmy Otim
Sex: Male
Grade: Secondary 1
Location: Abongomola
Sponsorship Need: Boarding
When Emmy was very young, his father died suddenly, leaving behind his wife and four children, of which Emmy was the youngest. As is a common practice in Uganda, a “clan brother” took over the dead man’s marriage and became head of the family. However, after fathering two more children with Emmy’s mother, this man abandoned them and his whereabouts remain unknown.
Even after all the loss in her life, and even while living with HIV/AIDS, Emmy’s mother worked hard in other people’s gardens to support her children. However, the family’s situation remained desperate despite all her efforts, and she had no hope of sending her kids to school without help. Fortunately, Emmy was selected to join EWT’s Child Sponsorship program when he was eight years old and has been able to attend school ever since. This help has not only changed his life; it has given hope to a mom who is worn-down and in great need of encouragement.
Emmy recently completed his primary education and has begun to study in secondary school. He has moved into boarding and now needs a second sponsor to supplement the additional costs with this advancement. Sponsoring Emmy will give renewed hope to his tired mom and will equip him to pursue the life the Lord has prepared for him.
Emmy needs a boarding sponsor for $35/month.
