Emmanuel Omate
Sex: Male
Age: 6 years
Location: Angetta
Sponsorship Need: Education and/or Boarding
Emmanuel is one of our newest additions to Jireh Children’s Home, coming to us as the youngest in a family of eight children. His father was physically disabled and depended on crutches, so his mother worked hard to support the family. Heartbreak struck when Emmanuel was a toddler. His father was brutally murdered on his way home. Soon after, his mother was diagnosed with cervical cancer.
The older children sold everything they owned—land, animals, and household items—to pay for her treatment, but despite their efforts, she passed away in November 2023. Emmanuel and his brother Amos were left in the care of their frail 89-year-old grandmother, who struggled to provide even one meal a day for them. The older siblings had either married and moved away or were struggling to survive in difficult circumstances of their own.
When we met Emmanuel, he was so frightened he wet himself. He is malnourished, suffering from a skin condition, and clearly traumatized. His grandmother is too elderly to tend to him properly. Sponsoring Emmanuel will give him the care, nourishment, and education he desperately needs—and will remind him that he is loved and not forgotten.
Emmanuel needs an education or boarding sponsor for $35/month, or both for $70/month.
