Daniel’s mother got pregnant when she was fifteen and still a student. The boy who impregnated her ran away and was never found, even after police searched for him. The mother married another man when Daniel was two years old, but this man did not want anything to do with him, and so he was left behind in the care of his grandparents.
He came to Jireh Children’s Home from grandparents who are living in abject poverty, reliant on the government to provide rations for them, which is unreliable and is often delayed. The grandfather suffers from Tuberculosis, and they are too weak to earn an income for themselves.
Before coming to Jireh Children’s Home, Daniel had never worn a pair of shoes or attended a day of school. He is a disciplined, social, and happy child who will thrive if only given the chance to do so. Sponsoring Daniel will ensure his opportunity of a bright future and will bring hope to his tired grandparents.
