God Has a Plan for Everyone

If eyes can reflect what is in a person’s soul, then joy and gratitude must be wallpapered all over the inside of Lucy. Her eyes glow and her face lights up  . . . something everyone notices about this vibrant young woman. Lucy is one of the newest girls to join our tailoring program, and it has been a life-changer for Lucy. After years of feeling stuck with no hope of being who God created her to be . . . she now feels like a conqueror, on the road to reaching her God-given potential.

Lucy remembers: "I began my life with the love of two parents and always felt like God gave me so much love. As a child, I went to school and did well up to the fifth grade . . . but then, my dad died and it was just me and mom. We struggled, but I was able to stay in school for sixth grade. Then mom got sick, and I had to drop out of school."

Lucy continues, “I thank God that I used to be bright, and so my teacher came looking for me and paid for my school fees for the next year. I would wake up early in the morning and take care of mom, go to school, and then come home and take care of her and our home. But after my primary education, my teacher couldn't afford to send me to secondary school and so my studies stopped. I continued taking care of my mom, doing garden work and all the things to run our household. I told God, ‘I worship You and You know who I am. I will stay like this if this is Your will for me.’"

“I never got to go back to studies, but one day I heard about EWT’s Discipleship Program and went to the nearest group. There I made up my mind to serve God in a more committed way. As my faith grew, I asked God to please give me something to do even though I didn’t go to school. I couldn’t believe it when my discipleship leader told me, ‘God has blessed you! You have been chosen to join EWT’s Tailoring Program!’ I wanted to jump up and down but instead I whispered, ‘God, You have a plan for everyone, even me, Lucy!’"

Lucy is now designing and making beautiful clothes and developing strong friendships with the other fifteen girls in her tailoring class. She serves as the spiritual leader of these young women and thanks God for the bright future He has given all of them. Lucy told us,"All of us girls have passed through many hard times and cried many tears, but God has raised us up and is doing something great in our lives! We can't stop being happy because none of us are who we used to be!"

Thank you EWT Partners for all you do to be the love of Jesus to so many people like Lucy! It's a powerful, live-changing love!
