About Us
Equipping with Truth Ministries is a non-denominational, evangelical, Christian organization dedicated to sharing the love and truth of Christ to the people of East Africa. We do this by:
  • Providing Bibles, biblical resources, and conferences to Christian leaders and to the masses
  • Creating study materials and training programs that will teach Biblical truths and expose false teachings that are dominant in the African culture
  • Providing homes, nourishment, medical aid, and education for orphans and destitute children
  • Providing gifts to families that will allow them to become self-sufficient
  • Improving schools

History
Equipping with Truth Ministries is an extension of the work that God began while Rusty and Betty Jo McLelland lived in Uganda from 2002 to 2004. Since that time, God has continued to bless and grow the work resulting in the McLellands registering it as a non-profit organization in 2007. They are truly thankful for all the partners who have joined them in this great endeavor by giving of their time, resources, and talents to the glory of God.

Meet Rusty and Betty Jo

Rusty and Betty Jo

We are truly thankful to all our partners who have joined us in this work. They have played a vital role in the growth and effectiveness of this ministry. Above all else, we are thankful to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the joy of serving Him as we share His love and make Him known. It has been a blessing beyond measure.

Our Mission Statement
We are dedicated to continuing Christ's mission as stated in Luke 4:18-19:

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom to the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed,
and to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.

Statement of Faith
Equipping with Truth Ministries is a non-denominational, evangelical, Christian organization. We base our ministry on the following Statement of Faith.
  • WE BELIEVE in one sovereign God, eternally existing in three persons: God the Father; God the Son; and God the Holy Spirit.
  • WE BELIEVE the Bible is the infallible, holy, and inspired Word of God, and the supreme and final authority.
  • WE BELIEVE that Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit; born of a virgin; was true God and true man; lived without sin; was crucified and bodily resurrected from the dead; ascended to the right hand of the Father; and will one day return again in power and glory.
  • WE BELIEVE that our Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures, as a substitutionry sacrifice; triumphed over all evil at the cross; and that all who believe in Him are justified by His blood and forgiven of all their sins.
  • WE BELIEVE that all who receive the Lord Jesus Christ by faith are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God.
  • WE BELIEVE that the Holy Spirit indwells believers; empowers them for Godly living; and equips them for service and witness.
  • WE BELIEVE that believers constitute the Church and are called to a life of kingdom service.
  • WE BELIEVE in the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust; the everlasting punishment of the lost; and the everlasting blessedness of the saved.

Accountability
Believing that we are accountable not only to man but to God, we are committed to take our responsibility as stewards seriously, thereby fulfilling the following standards of integrity in our organization.
  • We are committed to the belief that all we have comes from God and what we give comes out of His hand (1 Chronicles 29:14b).
  • We have an annual audit and our financial statements are prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Copies of our current audited financial statements are available upon request.
  • We seek to ensure that all donations are used for the purpose for which they were designated.
  • When carrying out fundraiser appeals, we shun high-pressure tactics.
  • Contributions to our ministry are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law.
  • We do not operate this ministry with indebtedness. We make purchases and expand ministry expenses when the money is in hand.
  • We do not pay any stateside salaries so that we can use the money in Uganda where it is needed most.

Home Office
Our home office is located in the McLelland Family Shoes building in Statesville, NC. We also have a satellite office at the McLelland residence. Our home office supports the work in Africa by developing materials, raising support, training workers, managing finances, and handling correspondence. There are many opportunities for those who would like to volunteer.
